Introducing Sydney Chiropractor Mike Schlamp

Coming from Canada, of course I played ice hockey. Playing at a high level our team had our own chiropractor and I had seen him on various occasions for a variety of injuries but there is one time that stands out in my mind. I had gotten body checked into the boards, had the wind knocked out of me and had extreme pain in my neck and upper back. Every time I took a breath there was a sharp stabbing pain in my back. This went on for about a week and I tried a number of things to get rid of this sharp stabbing pain. I went to the doctor and he gave me pain killers but this only provided temporary relief. I tried getting a massage and it provided some relief but the pain still remained.

Sydney Chiropractor Mike SchlampFinally I went to the chiropractor, he sent me for some x-rays to make sure nothing was fractured. After the x-rays came back clear I received my treatment and an adjustment. I couldn’t believe it the sharp pain that I had every time I took a breath was gone after one adjustment. After just a few treatments my neck pain was also gone. I was hooked. From then on I knew what I wanted to do. A couple of years later while travelling in Australia I found out about the chiropractic program in Sydney at Macquarie University from another Canadian studying here. I returned home after a year of travel and a year later I was back here in Australia starting the chiropractic program at Macquarie University. Having studied in Australia for 5 years it was an easy decision to stay and work. After some previous work at another clinic I joined the team here. There is a great clinical atmosphere and it is set up so that everything can be done by the team here.

Mike studied and completed his chiropractic masters degree here in Sydney at Macquarie University. He has since been invited back to teach anatomy which he thoroughly enjoys and thrives on being able to help the next generation of chiropractors work their studies. Mike currently plays national level ice hockey here in Australia after many years of top level competition back in Canada. Having experienced elite sport at this level he has acquired first hand a unique appreciation for the benefits of just how well a finely tuned body can perform. His special interests now lie in applied anatomy and the rehabilitation aspects of chiropractic practice. Mike heads up the exercise rehabilitation programming within our practice and is a certified "Bounce Back" instructor. Mike takes pride in getting people to work at their optimum potential with a combination of chiropractic care and the right exercises to finely tune their body.

Andrew Asks some important questions of interest to Sydney residents - Chiropractor Sydney Andrew Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
How could chiropractic help a stomach problem?
Chiropractic works by locating and reducing areas of the spine compromising nerve communications between your brain and your body. If nerves to or from your stomach are irritated, your stomach won't work right. Chiropractors find the source of the interference, reduce it and allow your body to work as designed.
